Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.
I think based on my picture of Grenada and the map of the United States of America, that, Phoenix Arizona has been the furthest I’ve traveled away from home.
Grenada is home. My homeland. The land of my birth. My first plane ride was a quick trip to Barbados to start the process to obtain an American visa.
Then I legally immigrated to Brooklyn NY. I lived there for about 8 years then moved to Austin Texas. Texas is south, Grenada is a part of the south eastern Caribbean islands.
After moving to Austin, I didn’t get to attend University of Texas as planned but I was accepted as a student at Grand Canyon University 🎉. I was one of the few selected online students invited to visit the campus for a day. The welcome to Arizona sign at the airport made me chuckle. Here I am in dessert country I laughed 😂 I have never had any intentions to travel to Arizona for anything!! I didn’t even know much about the State. From basketball, I was a bit used to hearing about popular cities like Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, LA Lakers and San Francisco 49ers…but my love for travel and exploring God’s world excited me at the surprising opportunity.
So according to my calculations, Arizona had been the furthest 😄🙌🏿. I do plan to visit all the States and all of the Caribbean islands with my husband and son or perhaps with friends. I also want to visit other continents. I still dream of being a lawyer, a teacher and a missionary! I have been in all of those things in some form over the years.
