Happy Christmas 2020
This year has been and still is a great blessing despite alllllll the things that went covid and non covid wrong!
Ending the year with one vehicle, a scald arm and some family members gone but my daddy and aunt in NY are COVID-19 survivors! We celebrate!! We did not get to travel in July for family reunion but I am still rejoicing!! Did alot more zoom than I like but I am grateful. New friendships and habits were created.
Still not sure what we will order or cook on Christmas day but I wanted to be sure that the tradition of baking cookies with Timothy continued. He enjoys rolling and pressing the cookie cutters into the dough.
“Im sad about the cookies taking so long to cool momee” 😞😞😏
My sweetsweet and I love baked sweets. It doesn’t matter to him that I am not a baker or pastry chef! I put in the effort so that we can bake #peanutbuttercookies together.
They didn’t all come out looking right😞some got burned 😣😒 but he ate them!! That #nutmeg touch 😘😘

I also decided to try Grenadian Fruit cake this year. I slightly regret not paying more attention while my mom baked– I wanted nothing to do with cooking as a teenager. We do not have the same wine or all of the fruit ingredients but I will try with what I’ve found. I forgot to get cherries and extra butter.
As I gathered everything to start soaking the fruits, I realized that I needed a wine bottle opener!! I laughed at myself for thinking I could unscrew the bottle until I saw the cork at the top. Deon and I do not drink alcohol. We do enjoy rum and raisin ice cream and an occasional guiness and milk punch. Well I could wait for another day?? Nope. Google showed some ideas to get the wine open. The serated knife did not work and I failed at the shoe stomp. Eventually Deon got up from the bed to help me– grumbling all the while until -splash! He pushed the cork in and wine spilled across the cabinets, counter and sink.
Well he got it open and I blended the raisins, black currants and dates for an overnight wine soak. I can only pray that the final product will be deliciously edible.

Dont bother working overtime in order to get more toys when children need your PRESENCE more than presents. Grateful for Christmas 2020!
