Too many shows ๐Ÿ˜‚

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

Growing up in Grenada, I got to watch many TV shows with my grandma and cousins or with my entire family (mommy, step daddy, younger siblings). We had one TV. As long as our schoolwork and chores were completed, we were allowed plenty of time to play and watch TV.

On the weekends there were shows on TBN that I enjoyed the most. These include

COLBY’S CLUBHOUSE

GOSPEL Bill

KIDS CLUB

SuperBook and Flying House — cartoon Bible stories (which inspired me to write my first book Little Timothy Faith).

Secular shows like The Great Pretenders became a favorite during my tween years but since I had to hand wash on Saturday mornings, sometimes I missed it. There was no DVR then which was so unfortunate ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜‚.

When I visited or was babysat along with my siblings at my step grandma’s house, I watched Cartoons all day long!

Looney Tunes, Power Rangers, Teenage mutant Ninja turtles, Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Lab, Power Puff Girls, Top Cat, The Jetsons, Josie and the Pussycat, Road Runner, Scooby Doo, and my favorite – The Flintstones! Later on, Ed Edd and Eddy were added and Cow and Chicken! I also enjoyed the superheroes and Batman is still my favorite. Batman and Robin, Fantastic 4, Superman and Justice League were awesome.

PBS kids had a great selection for after school hours. Author, CyberSpace, Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, What’s the story wishbone…Zoom, Wild Crafts so many good educational and fun shows helped broaden my worldview and inspired me to keep learning, reading and have a desire to explore and travel to other places. Their theme songs were also my favorites to sing and dance along to. ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜…

I enjoyed watching most cartoons but I did more thinking than laughing and found most to be too ridiculous but I did not have control over the remote.

Weeknights at home after supper and all homework was done were reserved for sitcoms and dramas. Some of my favorites that I can recall were

Walker Texas Ranger (now I live in Texas and rarely see any rangers ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Family Matters, The Cosby Show, Full House, The Wayans Brothers, Jaime Fox show, Steve Harvey show, The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie and 7th Heaven.

As I grew older, I enjoyed more of the crime dramas and criminal justice shows. I watched Perry Mason on my grandma’s black and white TV. During my tween and teen years, I enjoyed Columbo, Murder She Wrote, Unsolved Mysteries, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU and Criminal Intent.
