Grow It Gardening app

Very helpful and informative as I restart our backyard garden. My grandparents were gardeners in Grenada. I enjoyed going to the small garden with my Granny V. The bigger garden was too far away for my small feet. I enjoyed seeing and smelling the flowers and plants she had all around her house. Most of my family; mom and stepdad, daddy, uncles and aunts all grow something! From fruits and veggies, seasonings to ground provisions (yams, potatoes, etc) to pretty flowers and medicinal herbs, they all have something growing. And all have indoor plants as well.

My dad lives in NY and made good use of his limited space. He has roses in the front and lettuce, tomatoes and other veggies in his small backyard. My auntie Petra’s front porch in NY is beautifully decorated with potted flowers.

I have had so many indoor flowers and plants die 😔😔😂😂 that I gave up buying new ones for a year. This year, I decided to get my hands dirty and do what I can and need to grow food to eat again. I found a very helpful app and I am committed to reading and learning as a novice gardener. The free version tells me when to water and fertilize and even helps diagnose plant issues! Amazing! It’s called GrowIt.

My husband had a greener thumb when he lived in Grenada. He planted corn and sorrel among other things every year. I used to call him Farmer Brown 🤎.  It has been a disappointment to not see Farmer Brown as committed here in Texas once we got our own house with back, front and side yard. Maybe the soil difference? He hasn’t really shared a reason as to why he is reluctant to do much here and I gave up asking or expecting or waiting for him to do something. I am grateful for the plant boxes that he got and varnished. I am grateful for him adding the soil too 😁. The buckets that he brought are still out just collecting water, bugs and dirt 😔. But the best is yet to come !!
