Paper towels
What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?
Yep. Having paper towels is a luxury to me that I enjoy daily. 😂 I love things that are helpful and multifunctional! Growing up in Grenada, I did not have paper towels. I am grateful to have Bounty paper towels and other brands that are both soft and strong to use to clean, rinse and reuse sometimes or just trash them.
The second most needed luxury that I am grateful for is CENTRAL AIR! Texas living requires AC! The Brooklyn heat is nothing compared to Central Texas 3 digit heat during summer, winter, Fall and Spring! Yep. It’s hot year round most of the time and I am very grateful to have cool air. I do not like being hot and sweaty even though I am an island girl. I also despise being cold and freezing! A cool 77 degrees fahrenheit is my ideal temperature both inside and outside.
My Bibles and my journals are other luxuries I enjoy. I remember praying ‘oh God if our house is to burn, please save my Bibles’ when I was a teenager. Silly I know. I just grew a passion for God’s word and I would stay on the throne (the toilet) reading my first picture Bible (gift from my mom when I was 13) for hours! I guess having an indoor toilet with time and space and quiet to steal away with my Bible is another luxury wrapped up as one!
During my time at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn NY, I always found a bathroom stall in each building to spend some time talking to God and to read my Bible in. Sure I read in classrooms and break rooms, in the library (they have a beautiful library with natural light and glass work design) or computer labs but the restrooms were my favorite place! And yes it smelled ok most of the time and was kept pretty clean.
Clean water is another luxury! An overall close knit family on my mom’s side. A healthy son and good husband. A personal relationship with Jesus. Our own vehicle. Our own house! Nail polish is a luxury and I am able to paint my own nails. 😂🙌🏿 I guess since I am always counting my blessings and looking around at the luxuries I have while dreaming of even more it’s easy to see what I do have while not easy to pick just one!
